Today we got up quite early to make the trip to Ireland on the plane which we thought initially would be just a 50-minute flight, although as it turned out it only appeared this way due to the 1-hour time difference. At the airport and on the flight, I did quite a bit of reading finishing another book.

When we arrived in Dublin, we had to get a bus from the plane to the terminal, and I soon noticed that we had now returned to driving on the left side of the road. After getting our bags, we took a taxi to our hotel. Unfortunately, the room was not yet ready, so we had to pass a bit of time by eating an Irish breakfast at a nearby pub and then proceeding to go to the nearest pub which served Guinness to indulge in a few pints of this wonderful Irish delicacy. The Irish breakfast was a delicious hearty meal that I had been craving for a while. Whilst seated at the bar we chatted to the friendly man who served us the pints both agreeing that Guinness is probably one of the best beers ever crafted.

The combination of this guy’s friendliness and a few subtleties outside that were similar to Melbourne; the pedestrian crossing buttons are the same, police wear similar clothing, and everyone can speak English, was quite refreshing and quickly made me feel at home in Dublin.

For dinner, I had a spice box from a nearby fish and chip shop which was quite delicious surprisingly. It was essentially just chips with some chicken, lots of different seasonings, and a curry sauce. This paired well with the Guinness that I purchased from the Tesco next door.
