Big Ben, The London Eye & Buckingham Palace

Today we spent the day ticking off a few of the essential sites around London. We started the morning by catching one of London’s iconic double-decker buses to the area where Big Ben and the London Eye are located on the river Thames. I was quite surprised by how detailed the Big Ben building is – it’s obvious why this is a London icon. We opted not to go on the London Eye, as it would have cost 45 pounds each.

Next, we caught the train to go see Buckingham Palace. It was quite interesting to see the palace and the roads that surround it, which I had seen many times on television. We also walked around the nearby gardens. Sadly, it was raining at this point, so the photos look a little dull.

Since it was raining, we decided to go to a bookstore called ‘Daunt Books for Travelers’ where I purchased 2 more books. Safe to say I am bringing home a library of books from this trip. Later, we went to a pub near our hostel for a Sunday roast dinner and a few pints of Guinness. I did a bit more reading after dinner at the end of the day.
