British Museum

Today we started the day with an English breakfast and then headed to the British Museum. This museum was surprisingly large with many artifacts that the British seem to have collected over time. We followed an audio tour, that led us through the Egyptian, Assyrian, and ancient Greek sections of the museum which were all quite extensive. This was only a small part of the museum, so after finishing the audio tour, we browsed around the other sections of the museum which had artifacts from Renaissance times, China, Korea, Burma, Japan, and more. We didn’t spend much time in these other sections, rather quickly browsing around as there was just so much to see.

Tower Bridge

Next, we caught the train to go see the famous Tower Bridge. It was great to see and photograph this iconic monument, as well as to see the Tower of London which was close by. After walking across Tower Bridge, we briefly browsed some of the nearby shops before heading back to our hostel.

Hyde Park Christmas Market

After getting some rest, we headed to the Christmas Market at Hyde Park.  Since we had already been to quite a few Christmas markets in other cities, we felt like we knew what to expect.  However, this Christmas market was by far the biggest one we have been to.  It had so many rides, with carnival roller coasters that looked bigger than the permanent roller coasters at Australian theme parks like Movie World.  The Christmas market itself was probably bigger than Movie World.  There was so much there to do with many food stalls, indoor circus tents with more food and drinks, and countless carnival games and rides.  I was so surprised by how big this market was.  We didn’t go on any of the rides, but we walked around and had some food admiring the scale of the market.
