Seeing family and past family homes
After lunch, Boyd took me to Gerald’s house to pick up Gerald. Boyd then took Gerald and me to go visit some of the family homes where my Grandad, Ron, grew up. We also visited the Liverpool football club stadium to take some photos. It was great to visit and take some sneaky photos of the houses which are of hereditary importance to me.
After dropping Gerald at his house, Boyd took me back to his house for a short while where he showed me some pictures from when my parents and Grandad had visited England many years ago. Looking at old photos of my dad almost feels like looking in a mirror as I think I look quite like how he looked back then. I was also introduced to Boyd’s dog, Oscar.
Next, Boyd drove us both to Laura’s house where my relatives; Paul and Anita’s family were gathered for a dinner of pizza, lasagna, pasta, salad, and desserts. It was great to meet everyone for the first time, answer many questions about myself, and have conversations about our various common interests such as reading, travel, cars, working in IT, university, and careers. I felt appreciative that I was able to meet so many of my relatives, and that they were all so friendly and welcoming. We took some great photos together that I will remember as a happy memory of meeting everyone. Laura and her partner, Damian were kind enough to provide me a place to stay in their home for the two nights I would be in Chester/Liverpool.
