Temple of Heaven
After breakfast we caught a taxi to the park where the Temple of heaven, a key Beijing landmark is situated. As we were leaving, I noticed there was an event on for Alibaba Cloud. I wish my Chinese was a bit better because if it was, I may have considered trying to strike a conversation with the staff there who were setting up since their organisation relates to my work.
After arriving we walked into the park, and, feeling a bit sore, we stopped at a café in the park nearby to relax, have a chat, and enjoy the scenery outside. We then proceeded through the park to the round temple known as the Temple of Heaven. We took some nice photos and took in the views of the temple and surrounding city skyline. Before exiting the park through a different side, we also visited a building which is supposedly designed to perfectly round that you can hear peoples whispers on the other side. There were many people testing it out, but it was difficult to tell if it was working due to all the noise from the many other visitors.
Beijing Museum of Natural History
After leaving the park, we had planned to go to the Beijing Museum of Natural History. We figured since this was right beside the park it would be nice and convenient, although we quickly realised that it was on the opposite side of the park. It ended up taking around 45 minutes to walk to the museum, highlighting the size of the park, and Beijing in General.
This Museum was a fairly standard museum with many different animals from different regions around the world painting the story from the first creation of life, through dinosaur ages, to the life that exists on earth today including human life.
After this museum, we went to relax at the hotel for a while before going to get some lamb skewers at a restaurant nearby my restaurant. This was really tasty, although my body was really starting to ache so after paying, we decided to get a taxi back to the hotel and call it a day.
