Most of the items on the agenda for Beijing had already been ticked off by today, and I was starting to feel a little tired.
Solana Shopping Mall
We started the day by catching a taxi to a shopping mall called Solana Shopping Mall. We walked around for a while here visiting a bookstore, where I bought some books that are half in English, half in Chinese to hopefully read in Chinese one day. We sat down for a coffee
We visited a supermarket which was in the mall to see what Chinese Supermarkets are like. I always like to see how much the Australian Wine cost in foreign supermarkets, which in this case was slightly more expensive than the prices back in Australia.
After stopping for a coffee and browsing the Huawei store (including the Huawei EV), we left the mall to go meet up with Angie’s parents. On the way, our taxi hit a bike who came out of nowhere and cut off the taxi while it was trying to turn. This resulted in the driver getting out and engaging in a shouting match with the bike rider, which was partly entertaining, but also partly stressful as we were left waiting in the back of the Taxi.
Making Dumplings with Angie’s Family
After we arrived at Angie’s parents house, we went together down to the supermarket to buy some supplied for dinner. Angie’s mum also, kindly bought some special Beijing cakes for us to take home. When we got back to their apartment, we all sat down together at the table and began making dumplings. This was my second time making handmade dumplings with Angie, and I think my skill has improved. This was a really nice experience chatting to Angie’s family as we made the dumplings. We later ate the dumplings with some other meats and vegetables for dinner. The dumplings were delicious with a specific vegetable giving them a unique, pleasant taste.
