Today we left Italy to travel to the next country of our trip, Switzerland. We started the day early packing up our belongings heading back to the Venice train station on the ferry. While waiting at the train station, we realized that our tickets were for a different train station which gave us all a slight heart attack, but luckily, we were able to quickly get a train to the other station in time for our scheduled train.

Our journey to Interlaken, Switzerland would require us to take three trains. The first train was from Venice to Milan. We were all very excited to see Switzerland as the photos we had seen online were filled with snowy mountains and pretty landscapes. As we travelled on the train to Milan, we started to see the change of scenery as we passed by mountains that became larger the further north we travelled, and even some with snow on top. After arriving at Milan, we got on our next train which would take us to Spiez and then another train to Interlaken.

Arriving in Interlaken

When we arrived in Interlaken, we were so taken aback by how pretty it was. The scenery was living up to our expectations, and the houses people lived in looked like fairytale houses. The locals were all very friendly too. When we were at the train station trying to work out the busses there were a few local men helping tourists to get busses to their accommodation. They were kind enough to help us find our stop, and as it turned out they were not workers – just locals trying to help the tourists.

I bought a bottle of water at the train station, which cost me $8 AUD – so expensive!

Our accommodation in Interlaken was a pretty local-style cottage by a hill which looked interesting.

Since we had already realized how expensive things are in Switzerland, we decided to save some money by cooking our own dinner.
