Today we were booked to do the Guiness factory tour in Dublin. To start the morning on the right foot, we went to a café to get an Irish breakfast and some coffee. The breakfast was as good as the previous day, and the coffee was descent… finally!

Guinness Factory

Our tickets for the Guinness factory allowed us to enter around 10:30 so we went there right after breakfast. The exhibition was quite good, featuring audio and visual stimuli that were effective in making even the least avid beer drinkers crave a Guinness. There was a section of the exhibit on the works of coopers in making the barrels to store the Guinness – perhaps this was my calling all along. Thankfully our ticket included a tasting of Guinness in a mini pint as well as two regular-size pints, one of which had our face printed into the foam, and the other being enjoyed on the top level with panoramic views of Dublin. In conclusion, Guinness is possibly the best beer ever invented and the factory tour was a great way to get the full experience from start to finish of the Guinness beer-making process. I especially enjoyed the section that displayed the marketing history of the beer, like when we were at the Heineken factory in Amsterdam.
Later we decided to get another spice bag from a Chinese restaurant, which we heard is quite popular with the locals. This time I did not find it so tasty. Over dinner, we discovered that our accommodation booked for London had been incorrectly advertised as being on Tavistock Place in London when it was in Tavistock which is over 8 hours by train from London. This was quite an annoying situation to unfold, and we were forced to arrange new accommodation at a hostel called the Generator which funnily enough turned out to be on Tavistock Place in London (where the original accommodation was advertised as being located). The next battle will be getting a refund for the previous accommodation which was misadvertised.
