Visiting Bukhansan
After breakfast, we went and picked up a car that Angie had rented to drive to Bukhansan National Park. The drive there was quite interesting as the roads in Korea are quite different. It seems like the drivers here are aggressive and impatient. When we arrived in Bukhansan, we went to a café that overlooked one of the mountains in the region. We enjoyed a nice coffee and biscuit together looking at the view here.
Mountain Hiking
Next, we decided that we wanted to try to climb one of the mountains to get some better views, so we drove to the base area of one of the mountains. It was in total a 4 KM walk to reach the top, and quite steep with lots of snow and ice on the ground at certain parts. Along the trail, there were many old military hideouts, like Point Nepean in Australia. The views when we reached the top were amazing, we could see many buildings in the distance and were surrounded by snowy mountains. I tried to fly my drone but sadly it was too windy, so I decided not to risk it.
Hanjeongsik Dinner
After descending back down the mountain we went to a Hanjeongsik restaurant for dinner. For just $30 each, we had a table covered in food with many different types of vegetables and meats. The meal is designed to be very healthy and the herbs and spices in the rice were specialised to be healthier for males and females meaning that my rice was different from Angie’s. The rice was served in a clay pot which was so hot that it boiled the water which was poured into the pot to soak up the leftover rice. This meal was quite a fun experience trying all the different dishes. After this, we drove back to Seoul and returned the car before going to bed very full and tired.
Good to see you did some active activity today. I was beginning to think that you both were going to spend your entire time there in Seoul eating ! Enjoy!!
Haha, you are right, the trip has been revolving around food. Although there has been plenty of walking in between to be active.
I like your new clothes. The jacket suits you and looks very warm. What a nice view at the top of the mountain. All the food looks delicious!
Yeah the clothes are very warm, and I imagine very different to the way I would be dressing if I was in Melbourne right now.
